Royal Crescent in Bath was built between 1767-1775 by John Wood the Younger and was the first urban crescent in Europe. Royal Crescent forms part of the reason the City of Bath was granted its UNESCO World Heritage status in 1987 as a cultural site of worldwide importance. Royal Crescent is Grade 1 listed and is primarily a residential area but also houses the 5 star Royal Crescent Hotel & Spa and No.1 Royal Crescent, a museum managed by the Bath Preservation Trust which has faithfully recreated the grand interiors of this important 18th century house.

The Royal Crescent Society was formed in 1973 and its purpose is to represent the interests of the residents living here and to foster community spirit.
